Combating Antisemitism - What Our Government is Doing for Us

7:00 PM - 8:30 PMCongregation Emeth

In recent years, antisemitism in America has escalated alarmingly. The Anti-Defamation League’s (ADL) annual Audit of antisemitic Incidents for 2023 sites 8,873 antisemitic incidents. This represents a 140% increase from the 3,698 incidents in 2022 and is the highest number on record since the ADL began tracking antisemitic incidents in 1979.

A 2023 study commissioned by the American Jewish Committee (AJC) found that 93% of Jews say antisemitism is a "very serious problem." As a result, nearly half of American Jews changed their behavior out of fear of antisemitism.

The Federal government and State of California are acutely aware of the rise in antisemitism, and each has developed an action plan. In May 2023, the U.S. National Strategy to Counter antisemitism was released by the Biden/Harris administration. This is the first plan of its kind in the history of our country. In April 2024, the State of California adopted its first Golden State Plan to Counter Antisemitism.

The adoption of these plans served as the impetus behind the educational program: “Combating Antisemitism: What Our Government Is Doing for Us,” developed by Congregation Emeth in Morgan Hill

There will be a Q&A session following the panel discussion.
