Cultivating Creativity: Jewish Studio Project Hands-on Session at JCC Los Gatos

Adults Jewbilee: 10:00am -2:45pm
Kids Jewbilee: 9:30am-12:15pm

Creativity is inherent in each and every one of us and accessing and activating that creativity is a skill we can practice. Join a moderated conversation between celebrated speaker and educator Rabbi Adina Allen, co-founder of Jewish Studio Project, and Chanan Tigay, The Jewish News of Northern California’s editor-in-chief, as they explore a Jewish perspective on why creativity matters more than ever in today’s uncertain world. We’ll explore what we might do to unleash and reignite our creative spark so that we may lead more connected, fulfilled and satisfying lives. The session will offer a new outlook on creativity and a set of tools to bring creative resilience to our Jewish communities.

Virtual Israel Tours with Muki Jankelowitz

Temple Emanu-El's Rabbi Magat and Israeli guide Muki Jankelowitz, will be exploring 3 different topics over a 3 week span. Each of the sessions is independent of the other ones. These sessions will all be held on Zoom. The dates of the sessions are January 14th, 21st, and 28th. The origins of the modern Middle East - This session would look at the collapse of the Ottoman Turkish Empire and the emergence of the States (and non-State actors) that have shaped the region since World War One. Zionism - Why is there a Jewish State in the Middle East? How did the Zionist movement emerge and what are the claims of the Jewish people. The War that began on Simchat Torah - This session would look at the parties to the war, Hamas, Hezbollah, The Yemini Hutis, Iran and how the war has developed. The session above looks at how the war has impacted Israel and Israelis on a more personal and day to day level. This session will look at the different fronts and focus more on strategic questions.
