Fundraising

Congregation Emeth depends on annual fundraising to supplement income from member pledges and other donations. Fresh ideas are always welcome.

Annual Fundraisers

Wine Tasting — We have had a variety of wine tasting fundraising events at several winery venues over the years. We encourage members to invite friends, family, and other wine-loving acquaintances. Typically, several items are also donated and additional funds are raised from a silent and/or live auction. Our wine tasting events are always enjoyable social events for congregants in addition to serving as successful fundraisers for Emeth.

Mah Jongg Tournament— For the past few years several Emeth women, with the help of Sisterhood, have organized a local day-long Mah Jongg tournament. Proceeds go to an Emeth activity or charity of their choice.

Other Fundraisers

Most recently, Congregation Emeth raised money while honoring our long-time members, and also to fund the repairs of our new Torah. We are also receptive to other, smaller fundraising ideas as opportunities present themselves. Examples of past fundraisers include an art auction, deli sandwich sales, a concert, cook-offs, and a garage sale. Fundraisers that include cultural components seem to be successful in drawing the community at large. For example, we collaborated with South Valley Civic Theatre, our local community theater, selling out special afternoons of Jewish food and culture in combination with performances by SVCT of Fiddler on the Roof (2013) and The Producers (2015).

We appreciate member support of fundraising through your volunteer efforts, attendance, and by inviting your friends and neighbors to participate. To help with a planned fundraiser (or to propose one), please contact our Ways & Means Chair: fundraising@emeth.net
